• {Travel & Leisure} Mermaid Cottages on Tybee Island

Discover the magic of slowing down with Mermaid Cottages.  Over three dozen cottages sit on Tybee Island, Georgia just waiting to be filled with those that are in need of rest and relaxation.

The cottage names stir up visions of  pure bliss and enjoyment…”Basking Under the Tybee Sun”; “A Mermaid’s Tale”; “Doodlebug Cottage” to name just a few.

As someone who grew up on the West Coast and has never ventured farther East than Nevada, I truly yearn to visit Tybee Island someday.  The people seem to be warm, cheery and truly understand the joy of living their lives near the shore.

As I searched through Mermaid Cottages website I knew I had found the “one” when I saw a darling cottage named “Tybee Daze”. This delightful cottage features newly restored original pine flooring; an open floor plan; sunroom and lovely back deck area.  Beautiful flowers, citrus and palm trees surround this little piece of heaven on earth.

You’ll find attention to detail in everything about the property…shutters with pineapple cutouts and jumping dolphins which grace the gate are prime examples.

Walk through the front door of this delightful cottage and you’ll find yourself in a brightly lit sun room. The room is full of windows with Eastern exposure and is perfect for reading a good book, enjoying family time or to just hang out in.

The cottage’s galley kitchen comes completely stocked with everything you will need!

This bedroom features a queen bed, flat screen TV with cable and a door which leads out onto the beautiful back deck.

Tybee Daze is owned by an artist of great talent and the walls of this getaway are graced with his works. What a lovely touch!
