White, natural & sandy toned shells

A New Treasure filled with Seashells

Like every other Memorial Day Weekend we hit the garage sales and we found some truly phenomenal finds.  I have to admit that I’ve been keeping these treasures to myself, but promise to share them with you as I clean, display, fix and/or paint them.

My first new treasure is a fabulous porcelain bowl in blue and white. The cobalt blue design against the white porcelain is what first caught my attention.  I knew immediately that the unique shape and beautiful color would look perfect on our dining room table.  The second thing that caught my attention was the $2.00 price tag! That’s right this beautiful bowl in perfect condition was priced at only two bucks – SOLD!  What an easy decision that was to make.

I wanted a very soft tone for the display so dug through my shell collections to find white, off-white, natural and sandy hues. Since the bowl is so deep I filled the bottom with some extra rocks I had and then topped them with mainly oyster shells, clams, murex and five finger starfish.  The seashells filled this enormous bowl perfectly.  If I ever have a big beach cottage party this would be perfect for serving a huge fruit salad but for now it is “the” perfect seashell bowl…I love it!

LOVE LOVE the blue bowl with shells, what a find!!! You’ve inspired me to go out and have a peek around at my local thrift shop. I also love traditional chinese blue and white plant bowls, great tropical look.

I have to agree with the others. You have a good eye. The bowl is beautiful and a great deal but what you have done with it is what makes it grand.

I love this pretty bowl…what a wonderful bargain find. Great idea to fill the bottom with stones and then top it off with the beautiful shells.

Such a pretty find and I love the fleur-de-lis motif on it. Blue and white pottery is always my favorite and at such a great price it’s a must-have! I love how you displayed your shell collection in it… looks beautiful! Great idea to put rocks at the bottom. Dropping in from Masterpiece Monday. Have a lovely week!~Poppy

Love it! The shells are the perfect contrast to the striking bowl. I’ve been hooked on shells since OnlySon married in FL several years ago.

That bowl is quite a find and at $2 I would have snapped it up too. Love how you’ve filled it with pretty shells. We also have a collection of shells that we found through the years when we lived in the islands.

First off, Wow! Your blog’s looking amazing! And second, I happen to be a Sea Shell Sophisticate hehe I made that up. But seriously, a great collection needs a great bowl, and yours is beyond fantastic! I have such similar taste in my shells, love starfish, and all the other gifts from the Sea. Wonderful post, tami
