• Pretty Pink Blossoms

Posted on June 15, 2011 by in Gardening

Isn’t this lovely? I took this photo a few weeks ago and completely AND totally forgot about it.  My camera died a few weeks ago and David gave me his little digital camera to play with and that’s when I captured this gem.

This beautiful tree is in front of our beach cottage and it blooms in pink profusion each Spring.  Since it was planted years before we ever moved here I unfortunately have absolutely no idea what it is.  The ruffly pink petals have no fragrance and don’t last at all when brought into the house.

What I do know is that it looks like pink snowflakes blowing in the breeze when these delicate blooms decide it’s time to depart.  I also know that I look forward to this little bit of beauty each year…it’s the simple things in life, ya know?

  1. Hi, I’m pretty sure this is a cherry blossom of the “yaezakura” type, which means a sakura with numerous petals, and because of the bronze color of some of the leaves, I would guess it’s a “kanzan” cherry. Usually, these bloom a little later than the standard “yoshino” cherry trees or the weeping “shidarezakura” type.

That is the most perfect cluster of cherry blossoms I’ve ever seen! The foliage and the dew drops are wonderful. That’s a really nice shot, Marie. Have a wonderful weekend! Hugs, Terri

It is beautiful and I love the color of the leaves as well. We have a tree that has little pink blossoms that bloom in the spring, it is my favorite tree but sadly it is slowing dying.
Thinking about you and hope you have safe trips.
    xoxo
