Pelicans 5

The Pelicans Have Arrived!

Liz and I were SOOOO excited when we arrived at the beach yesterday – the Pelicans had finally arrived!  We were getting more and more curious when we would see these interesting creatures; which are both graceful and a bit intimidating.  They have a very pre-historical look to them but are so graceful when flying and fishing for lunch from the ocean.

What beautiful photos, thank you so much for sharing with us. We used to watch the pelicans eating fish on the pier when we lived in California. Big Hugs!!

I lived in Florida for a couple of years in the 80’s. I was fascinated with how these beautiful birds dive for their food.

These are my favorite beach birds…. We always have “contests” to see who can spot the longest line of soaring pelicans as they ride the currents over the condo at Crescent Beach (FL).

My mom ALWAYS quoted this ditty…”A wonderful bird is a pelican. His beak can hold more than his belly can. And I don’t know how in the hell it can.” (My boys all say this too…and now their wives have started…what a legacy – LOL)
