Designer, Jim Howard was recently interviewed by Mimi Read of House Beautiful Magazine and his words show that he truly understands what a beach house should be!
Let the beach house be relaxed. Nothing too dear. I’ve done fancy beach houses, but when I go there, I see people walking around in shorts and flip-flops: a disconnect. Beach houses should be places where everyone can kick back. Open windows, people coming and going, grilling and spilling cocktails — it all has to be okay.
~ Jim Howard
Jim designed this relaxing beach house with a Nantucket-style kitchen, a spa-like bathroom, and kept a casual beach cottage style.
Our favorite part of the home is the kitchen; which is described as “Nantucket meets Spanish Revival.” The pendant lights are an especially brilliant addition.
The bathroom isn’t too shabby either. I think I’d end up spending the rest of my life soaking in the divine bathtub!
Every beach house has to have a dreamy canopy bed, right?
