The following are some great ways to incorporate those special touches into awesome bedroom design.
Secret Compartments
Your bedroom is a pretty private place, making it the perfect room to have some secret compartments. From beds hidden in walls and disguised compartments, to a small secret room concealed behind the bookshelf, there is no better way to feel happy about your bedroom than by having a few stylish secrets.
The Bed
Obviously the bed is the most important element of the bedroom, so it has to look fantastic. Lots of people have nice beds though few go to the trouble of getting decent sheets and linen, which actually does a huge amount to the entire look of your bedroom. The first thing that you usually see in a bedroom is the bed, and having a bed, bed linen and pillows of a high quality, really makes a big first impression.
Lighting
To make your bedroom feel inviting, warm and cosy, the lighting has to be just right, and nine times out of ten this means getting some nice lamps. A quality lamp will often be a feature all on its own, and having the ability to control the lighting will mean you can create a few different feels and effects.
Mirrors
Unless you have an ensuite, you will probably want to have some type of mirror in your bedroom, and the larger the mirror the better. Mirrors can make fantastic features, and increase the feeling of space in a room significantly, so to make your bedroom seem larger and to add an element of style, get a large mirror.
Art
Having one or two small pieces of art can make a bedroom look and feel cosy. Art in your bedroom should represent you, so make sure you are making a statement with your selections. Intense, bright or provocative art often make a great addition to the mood of a bedroom.
Having fresh cut, well-chosen flowers on your bedroom dresser is a great way to compliment the art and colour scheme of the room, as well as freshen the air. You may even have flowers growing in your garden that will make fabulous additions.
Painting
Unless you are a painter, get a professional to come in and paint your room. Paint always freshens up any wall and your room will feel brand new. Take your time picking a colour, as it will make the room look and feel totally different depending on your choice; generally neutral and warm colours look best in bedrooms, off whites and soft autumn tones for example.
Your bedroom is your own little kingdom, so treat yourself and do it up a bit, making it a place you look forward to coming home to, every day.

We actually agree about the mirrors and don’t have any in our personal bedroom, however not everyone is concerned about Feng Shui. Thank you so much for sharing your ideas for those of us that do use Feng Shui in our personal spaces.
Hope you have a beautiful weekend.

A note on the use of lots of mirrors in the bedroom — in feng shui, mirrors are thought to bounce energy around the bedroom, which may result in poor sleep and restlessness. They’re also said to amplify worries.
I never subscribed to feng shui until I moved. I used to have a full wall of floor to ceiling mirrored closet doors directly facing my bed. I used to sleep horribly, and would often lie awake at night worried and stressed out. Sometimes I woke up having an anxiety attack. When I moved, I eliminated all but one small mirror above the dresser and made sure I could not see myself in the mirror from the bed. Now, I rarely wake up during the night, I never lie awake worrying, and I haven’t had a nighttime anxiety attack since.
If you have a client who is concerned about the energy/feeling of the room and you want to use feng shui principles, avoid large mirrored closet doors, don’t place mirrors directly across from the bed, or suggest that the client cover the mirrors with a piece of fabric when they go to sleep. Sounds crazy, but it works.
