For decades, fishermen have used glass fishing floats to keep track of fishing lines. Carried across the oceans by currents, glass fishing floats wash up on the shore, where collectors, decorators or vendors pick them up to display or re-sell later. Now that wooden or foam buoys are more commonplace, fewer glass floats make their way onto the sand, creating even more demand for the typically round glass buoys.
Decorators and collectors alike display glass fishing floats, some still wrapped in rope netting, near windows and in clear containers that show off the colorful orbs.
