Our cheerful vacation beach house was a 90 minute drive from Pensacola International Airport. Once you arrive you will find yourself in a dreamland of beachfront condos and stilted beach houses which are perched along the Gulf of Mexico. Since last December’s weather in Gulf Shores, Alabama was so lovely we rented a red convertible Mustang for our stay. Temperatures in the high 60′s to low 70’s were combined with pure unadulterated sunshine most of the time during our 4 night visit.
The fine folks at Relax on the Beach provided us with a choice beach house that offered a view out onto the sparkling clear waters of the Gulf. The bright, fun colors of the surrounding homes created an almost storybook scene each morning as we enjoyed coffee on the home’s front deck. Lounged comfortably in the Adirondack chairs, it was difficult to get up and get going since we were so relaxed. The fresh breezes combined with crashing waves made for a heavenly experience.
As someone who enjoys peace and quiet, I found the area to be perfectly suited for our off-season visit. We shared the unbelievable white sand beaches with few others during our time. The sand is so different from my Pacific Northwest beach experiences. The sand is so white in Gulf Shores that it looks like snow covering the ground. It is soft to stroll through and made my seashell hunting experience even more enjoyable.
The Vacation Beach House was filled with bright and cheerful art and accents which made the home extra-special. Some of our favorite home decor accents included…
Since the vacation home is situated on a long peninsula, it was about 13 miles to drive into town. We used every chance possible to drive the convertible so we certainly didn’t mind the drive back and forth. There is a grocery store, drug store, UPS store and miscellaneous stores for your shopping pleasure. Drive up north a few miles and there is another large grocery as well as restaurants and boutique shops plus even a large movie theater We thoroughly enjoyed the beautiful granite kitchen, which we stocked with groceries and prepared the majority of our meals ourselves . We enjoyed some great savings by eating at the home while watching the glorious sunsets.
We were pleased that the vacation house offered fluffy linens, coffee maker, pots and pans and even soap and shampoo. The only thing we didn’t bring, and wasn’t provided, was a blow dryer. No big deal, just make a note to pack one when YOU visit. Full size laundry facilities were very much appreciated after a day of beach-combing.
Relax on the Beach offers a wealth of rental opportunities so whether you are looking for a large beach house or small condo they can assist you. Make sure to check out their off-season pricing for some wonderful savings!
