A Summer Cottage Tour by Luciane

Consider yourself lucky if you already can see flowers growing and green lawns. Where I live it still feels like winter, with snow everywhere and we just got yet another snowstorm last week. Maybe that’s why I can’t stop posting cottages that embrace beautiful colors, reminding me of summer and sunshine.

Designed by interior designer Kate Jackson from Rhode Island, this cottage seems to smile at you as soon you enter it. The designer wisely chose to mix coastal decor with a subtle Moroccan touch. Light materials such as wicker and woven can be found in some selected pieces, adding a natural feel to the space.

With a comfortable and a relaxed approach, this cottage immediately gets you in the mood for summer. Get ready to get your flip flops from the closet!

Summer Cottage

Light, airy and inviting. Paint Color: Walls are  Benjamin Moore’s Chantilly Lace and Trims are Benjamin Moore’s Super White. The beautiful sofa is by Lee Industries, the fabric on the green pillows are by Peter Dunham Textiles.

For the Family

This cottage is ideal for a young family. The swan side table is by Serena & Lily, the green lamps are byJamie Young, but a similar, more affordable, product can be found here.

The cute wicker rocker and the trunk are antiques. Blinds are by Hunter Douglas, tripod floor lamp is byVisual Comforts, and a giant clam (to be used as a bowl) can be found here.

The plant is a fiddle fig leaf plant and the art above the fireplace is a framed coral.

Have a Seat

The vintage 1950′s wicker chairs was a find. The fabric on the chair pad fabric is from Peter Dunham Textiles.

Dining Room

This dining room is so cute! I love the built-in, original to the cottage, and the table. Customized chandelier is by Tonic Home, chair pad fabric is by Scalamandre Textiles.

Black Loves White

The art is a vintage turtle shell.

Paint Color: Walls are  Benjamin Moore’s Chantilly Lace and Trims are Benjamin Moore’s Super White.

A Corner

The bar cart is by Serena and Lily. The pine floors are original to the cottage.

       Eating Nook

I simply love the breakfast nook. How cottage-y is that? The light fixture is original to the house. Rejuvenation Hardware offers similar options.

Master Bedroom

The master bedroom is calming and has a summery vibe, thanks to its subtle color pallet, inspired by the Moroccan quilt.

Paint Color: Walls are Benjamin Moore’s “Featherdown” and all trim work and ceilings are Benjamin Moore’s “Chantilly Lace”.

The custom window treatment fabric is by Quadrille Textiles and the artwork can be found here.

Kids’ Bedroom

What kid wouldn’t love to have a bedroom like this one? The bunk beds were custom painted and made by a local professional. Paint Color: Walls are Feather Down 953 by Benjamin Moore. The Moroccan leather pouf is by Serena and Lily, the sisal rug is by Pottery Barn.

Guest Bedroom

This is an ideal small guest bedroom. A daybed is perfect when space is at a premium. This one is even better because comes with a trundle bed.

The Roman shades and pillow fabric is from Quadrille. The chair and the sheepskin rug are from Ikea.

Lovely color scheme. The embroidered pillow is from Etsy. Throw is by Brahms Mount and the side table is from Ballard Designs.

Beach Painted Metal Shed

Journey’s End by the Beach Metal Shed Transformation

Pat is in the process of re-decorating both the interior and exterior of her Space Coast, FL home.  She is lucky enough to be located not far from a river and the ocean.  What draws us to Pat and her projects is her heart and the fact that she understands what the “beach lifestyle” is really about.

“Everyone has a story. Everyone takes a journey. Many of us find our soul at the beach. The ocean starts running through our veins. Running to the beach is a renewal not everyone will understand.  Being right where I am supposed to be.  Living simply and at peace; sight-seeing in my home town and most of all, being on beach time.” ~ Pat of Journey’s End by the Beach

One of Pat’s exterior projects was taking an old metal shed and hitting it up with spray paint.

Step One: A rough spray painting of her intended beach scene

Nautically Unique Bathroom Ideas

hot pick nautical ships wheel sink

Nautically unique bathrooms can be over-the-top or subdued.  Depending on your location, personal taste and color scheme…there really is something for everyone.   Most of  today’s bathroom examples stick with a beachy blue color palette; however a few gravitate to the sandy tones of a walk on the beach.  Whatever your preference, make your beach bathroom work for you.

The colors of the surrounding region were the inspiration for this beach bathroom in Santorini.
